The Three Pillars of African Wisdom

NTU

Your untouchable essence and spiritual energy

NTU is the fundamental life energy that connects every living entity. It is the very essence of humanity and the source from which all life springs. This Bantu concept reminds you that your essence cannot be diminished by toxic work environments.

Key Principles

  • Your life force is sacred and protected
  • No external force can diminish your essence
  • You are connected to universal energy
  • Your spiritual resources are infinite

UBUNTU

I Am Because We Are

Your connection to community and collective strength

Learn More About Ubuntu

Ubuntu is the African philosophy where your sense of self is shaped by your relationships with other people. It means your humanity is fostered in relation to others, emphasizing that common bonds within our community are more important than individual struggles.

Key Principles

  • Your struggles are our struggles

  • Community support is wisdom, not weakness
  • You belong because we belong

Your ancestral wisdom and inherited strength

Sankofa comes from the Akan people of Ghana, meaning “to retrieve” or “go back and get it.” It represents the understanding that to know where you’re going, you must understand where you’ve come from. Your cultural identity is your source of power.

  7. Step forward knowing you are backed by ancestral power

Workplace Wisdom

Real-time applications of African wisdom for the unique challenges faced by Black professional women in corporate environments.

Before a difficult meeting

Take 30 seconds: Feel your NTU (hand on heart), remember Ubuntu (you represent more than yourself), access Sankofa (ancestral strength flows through you)

After a microaggression

Don't internalize it. Use NTU to maintain energy, Ubuntu to remember you're not alone, Sankofa to connect to ancestral triumph over worse challenges

When imposter syndrome hits

NTU reminds you of inherent worth, Ubuntu shows other successful Black women felt this too, Sankofa connects you to the strength that got you here

Remember, Sister

Every day you practice these concepts, you model authentic leadership for other Black women, shift the energy in spaces that need transformation, and honor the sacrifices of those who came before you. Your daily practice is an act of resistance and a declaration that you belong.
